Iraq: 'Iraq's long-repressed Shias scored a resounding victory in the first election since the removal of Saddam Hussein, setting the country on a tumultuous and highly uncertain course to become the only Shia-dominated state in the Arab world. The result raised a host of fresh worries about the country's future: whether Iraq will become a satellite of Iran, whether the disenfranchised Sunnis will become even more violent and whether the growth of Kurdish power will cause restlessness among Kurdish minorities in neighbouring countries.'
